The UK government has issued instructions for travelers according to which people coming in the UK must self-isolate for 14 days from June 8 to avoid the spread of coronavirus.

According to details, travelers will have to report to the government where they will quarantine. Also, enforcement through random spot checks and £1,000 fines will be imposed in England.

Home Secretary Priti Patel said that the measures taken would “reduce the risk of cases crossing our border”.

However, lorry drivers, coronavirus medics, and seasonal farmworkers will be exempt.

Apart from that, those traveling from the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man will also be exempt.

Border Force chief Paul Lincoln said that if a person does not find appropriate accommodation, they will be allowed to accommodate themselves in “facilities arranged by the government” at the person’s own expense.

Priti Patel said that in a briefing that the measures were not the same as that of complete lockdown.

She said, “We are not shutting down completely. We are not closing our borders,” She also spoke over foreign holidays this summer. She said, “This is absolutely not about booking holidays. We want to avoid a second wave and that is absolutely vital.”

However, the government has said that air bridges agreement with countries having low coronavirus cases enabling people to travel without quarantining-will not be in place initially.
