President Donald Trump said that it is “a badge of honor” for the US to have the highest number of coronavirus cases in the world.

The US has the highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the world, it has 1,570,583 total cases out of which 93,533 have died whereas 361,180 have recovered. There are 1,115,870 active Covid-19 cases.

Donald Trump said at the White House, “I look at that as, in a certain respect, as being a good thing because it means our testing is much better,”

Donald Trump was hosting his first cabinet meeting on Monday since the outbreak started in the US.

He said to the journalists, “By the way,” “you know when you say that we lead in cases, that’s because we have more testing than anybody else.”

He added, “So when we have a lot of cases,”  “I don’t look at that as a bad thing, I look at that as, in a certain respect, as being a good thing because it means our testing is much better.”

“So I view it as a badge of honor. Really, it’s a badge of honor.

“It’s a great tribute to the testing and all of the work that a lot of professionals have done.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control, over 12.6m coronavirus tests have been conducted in the US by Tuesday.

Donald Trump was replying to a question whether he was considering a travel ban on Latin America.

On the other hand, The Democratic National Committee criticized Trump’s statements and tweeted that 1.5 million coronavirus cases in the US represented “a complete failure of leadership”.
