The US House of Representatives has passed a bill to allocate more than $3 trillion for coronavirus relief.

The relief bill was passed by the vote 208-109 despite opposition from Republicans and some progressive Democrats.

Fourteen Democrats crossed party lines to vote against the bill whereas one Republican voted in favor.

“Crazy day, crazy day. But it passed because it needed to pass,” Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) said shortly before leaving the Capitol after 9 p.m. “Now the Senate needs to act.”

In addition to this, the House also adopted a change that permits members to vote and convene committee hearings remotely. House lawmakers can now vote via proxy for the first time in the history of the US.
