With the rapid surge in coronavirus affectees, the United States of America reported 42,0000 new cases in the last 24 hours. 

According to the Baltimore-based organization the latest infections, which are concentrated in southern and western states, carry the overall number of infections in the US to almost 2.6 million.

Nonetheless, the number of regular US deaths in the largest economic force in the world continues to decrease, with 355 deaths in 24 hours.

Many state governors were forced to reimpose lockdowns on businesses including restaurants and bars, while the White House blamed the increase in recording cases.

The COVID-19 pandemic is not even close to over, World Health Organization president Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Monday at a briefing.

Tedros reported that the grim thresholds of 10 million confirmed infections and 500,000 deaths had been hit, six months after China first alerted the WHO to a novel respiratory infection.

“Most people remain susceptible, the virus still has a lot of room to move,” said Ghebreyesus.
