Do you know in the year 2011, two Indian pilots were found drunk while flying the plane as well as with fake license?
From 2009 to 2011, airline authorities have reported 57 pilots above the alcohol limit but only 11 have lost their jobs, according to the Indian media outlet. The country’s largest carrier, Jet-JetLite, boasted the most boozers, with as many as 23 intoxicated pilots, all of whom had to hold their jobs.
In reaction to the report, the Civil Aviation Directorate of the country had instituted new regulations allowing drunken pilots to be grounded on the first offense for three months and losing their license permanently after the second offense.
Another investigation found that at least four Indian pilots had fake qualifications. One pilot was arrested during a rough landing after a plane was destroyed. A subsequent inspection found that fake documents were used by the pilot to obtain the license for flying.
Recently, Pakistani pilots are under hot water for having fake licenses. Many foreign countries have banned flights from Pakistan due to the fake license controversy.
