An online campaign has been launched in Mexico to save and protect selfie bear.
The black bear became famous last week when footage of it was posted online showing it taking a selfie with a hiker in the Chipinque Ecological Park in Mexico.
However, Mexican authorities say they have chosen the right way to catch the bear to move it to the safe place.
An online petition has been filed against the government’s move, which has so far received 135,000 signatures, demanding that the bears be allowed to live alone in the open.
In this regard, it was said that instead of imprisoning the bear, people should be kept away from the area where the bear is present due to the coronavirus.
The bear reached the hikers and walked on two legs to examine them.
The bear could then be seen taking a selfie with the head on the woman’s shoulder, and the photo was hugely popular.
