Russia announces retaliatory sanctions on Britain

Russia has announced retaliatory sanctions on Britain.

The United Kingdom has banned 49 individuals and entities for human rights abuses in recent years.

The list also includes 25 Russian figures who will be barred from entering the UK and whose assets will be frozen in the UK.

Russia has also announced sanctions in response to British sanctions.

Speaking to reporters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the unfriendly move could only be regretted.

He said that the principle of reciprocal parallel measures would be followed on this issue that it suits the interests of the Russian Federation.

in response to the Russian warning, a spokesman for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “The Foreign Secretary has made clear that this sanctions regime is not intended to target countries. It’s a smart tool allowing for the targeted sanctioning of individuals and entities involved in serious violations or abuses of human rights.”

The spokesman did not say what sanctions Russia would impose on Britain.

The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on 49 individuals and entities, including Saudi nationals, for human rights abuses.

Note that, China has also warned the UK not to interfere in Hong Kong’s affairs after announcing broader citizenship measures for Hong Kong residents and reserves the right to retaliate against the decision through relevant measures.

Hong Kong’s citizens were offered rights and citizenship after China introduced new security rules for the former British territory.

Hong Kong was part of British imperialism but was ceded to China in 1997 on the condition that China protects its judicial and legal sovereignty for 50 years.

The UK has developed a plan that covers the 3 million people in Hong Kong who have or are eligible for a British National Overseas Passport.
