Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has once again advised people to wash their face masks with petrol.

Rodrigo Duterte also suggested last week that the face mask be washed with petrol, which government officials immediately corrected, saying the president had joked about it.

According to the details, on the President’s advice, Philippine health officials said that cloth masks should be washed normally with water, while surgical masks should be disposed of after use.

However, the Philippine president reiterated his statement, advising the public to wash their face masks with petrol once again, saying, “what I’ve said was true… go to a gasoline station”.

“Last week when I was asked to wash my face mask with petrol, critics called me crazy and stupid. If I’m stupid, you should be president, not me,” he said.

“What I said is true and especially for the poor. If alcohol is not available, disinfect the mask from the petrol station with petrol,” he said.

“I’m not kidding, people try to understand me,” said Rodrigo Duterte.

It should be noted that so far no evidence has come to light that petrol can disinfect the mask, it can be dangerous to stay in contact for a long time, while it is also a risk of fire.

More than 89,000 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in the Philippines, with more than 2,000 deaths.
