US President Donald Trump was led out of a news briefing by a Secret Service agent soon after shots were fired outside the White House.

According to details, Mr. Trump was speaking when the agent came and whispered in his ear. Soon after that, the president said, “Oh!” and “What’s happening”, and left the room.

He came back nine minutes later and announced that a man was shot outside White House. He also assured that the situation has been brought under control.

He said to the media that he was taken to the Oval Office outside the briefing room.

The US Secret Service said that there had been “an officer-involved shooting at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Ave”.

It said “a male subject and a USSS officer were both transported to a local hospital”, adding that “at no time during this incident was the White House complex breached or were any protectees in danger”.

Mr. Trump said to the reporters that he believed the suspect has been shot by the Secret Service. He also claimed that the suspect was armed “from what I understand”.

He also said that he did not know whether the person came with ill intentions towards him.

“It might not have had anything to do with me”.

However, he also praised the Secret Service for its professionalism.

A journalist asked him, Mr. Trump if he was rattled by the events. To which he replied, “Do I seem rattled?”

“It’s unfortunate that this is the world, but the world’s always been a dangerous place. It’s not something that’s unique.

“The world has been, if you look back over the centuries, the world has been a dangerous place, very dangerous place, and it will continue, I guess, for a period of time.”
