Wuhan’s local authorities reported that the city, hit first and the hardest by the Corona virus pandemic, was prepared to reopen its educational institutions, including schools and kindergartens, on Tuesday.

As many as 2,842 institutions that make up Wuhan’s educational infrastructure are set to open their doors to almost 1.4 million students for the autumn semester. Wuhan University, the largest university of the region had already reopened on Monday.

City officials mentioned that they were prepared to switch back to online teaching methodologies if the risk levels showed an increase. They have also advised students and parents to wear masks and avoid public transport facilities.

Schools have also been ordered to prepare with disease control equipment, and to have drills and training sessions before fully opening to students. Foreign students who had not received any notification will not be allowed to return.

The step is to continue Wuhan’s process of normalizing itself, as the province, that was the first and the worst to be hit by the virus, accounted for 80% of China’s total deaths.
