Presidential rivals Trump and Biden argue over Covid-19 vaccine

Conflicts between Donald Trump and Joe Biden started again over the coronavirus vaccine during Presidential election.

President Donald Trump has announced that a vaccine might be made available ahead of November’s presidential election. He accused his Democratic rivals of “reckless anti-vaccine rhetoric”.

On the other hand, Joe Biden expressed doubt that Mr. Trump would consult scientists and implement a transparent process.

According to the international news agency, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had last week urged states to consider “waiving requirements” in order to be able to distribute a vaccine by 1 November – two days before the 3 November election.

However, no vaccine has experimented with for clinical trials yet. Scientists feared that politics is influencing the development of vaccines more than health and safety.

Joe Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris said that she would not trust Trump’s statement that a vaccine was safe.

“He has said so many things that aren’t true I am worried that if we do have a really good vaccine people are going to be reluctant to take it,” Mr. Biden said in Pennsylvania on Monday, Labour Day.

However, he added that “If I could get a vaccine tomorrow, I’d do it. If it cost me the election I would do it. We need a vaccine and we need it now. We have to listen to the scientists.”

On the other hand, Mr. Trump mocked his rival, calling Biden “stupid” and Ms. Harris “the most liberal person in Congress… not a competent person in my opinion”.

He said they “would destroy this country and would destroy this economy”, and added that they “should immediately apologize for the reckless anti-vaccine rhetoric that they are talking right now”.

During the event, Mr. Trump asked journalists to take off their face masks when asking queries. He also suggested that vaccines could be ready next month. “We’re going to have a vaccine very soon, maybe even before a very special date.”
