Lebanese Artist makes statue from the debris of Beirut explosion

A statue of a woman made from the debris after the explosion in Beirut has become an eye-catching sculpture in Lebonan.

According to the details, the Lebanese artist Hayat Nazer made the eye-grabbing statue of a woman. The statue is composed of broken glass, building rubble, and household objects which were damaged during a blast in Beirut on August 4.

Nazer called on the public in a clip uploaded to her Instagram account to help collect “meaningful objects” which were damaged in the blast, such as “picture frames, destroyed clocks, and wooden chairs.”

Moreover, Nazer also asked the people in suggesting a name for the statue. Meanwhile, at the time of writing, no name was chosen.

On October 22, a clip shot by local resident Oliver Zeitoun portrays the statue standing close to the explosion site with one raised arm facing the city.

Let it be known that on 4 August 2020, a large amount of ammonium nitrate stored at the port of the city of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, exploded, causing at least 203 deaths, 6,500 injuries, and US$15 billion in property damage, and leaving an estimated 300,000 people homeless.
