Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah has announced 1.2 million grant for the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) in Peshawar.
According to the details, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi announced a grant of Dhs 4.4 million ($ 1,197,950) to facilitate the medical services in the hospital.
Following the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah,
Chairperson of The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), and Founder and Royal Patron of the Friends Of Cancer Patients (FOCP), the Ameera Fund, a global fund run collaboratively by FOCP and TBHF while following the directives of her Highness, declared the allocation of Dhs 4.4 million for the procurement of state-of-the-art medical equipment to facilitate the commencement of surgical oncology services at the hospital.
With this financial assistance, around 2,500 cancer patients will benefit from access to a wide range of high-quality surgical treatment options.

The contribution aims to support the leading humanitarian efforts of the Shaukat Khanum Hospital & Research Center in Peshawar by helping to enhance the facility’s overall capacity to offer specialised care to more patients, especially in the surgical field and furthers the hospital’s goal of offering financial support to 75 per cent of its patients.
The collaboration follows Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher’s visit to Pakistan in February this year when she met with several humanitarian organizations including the SKMCH&RC in Lahore.
His Excellency Sawsan Jaafar, Chairman of the Society of Friends of Cancer Patients, confirmed that the efforts made by the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, constitute a model for humanitarian work that includes the rest of the world, as well as translating the culture of the United Arab Emirates society and its institutions based on The values of giving and cooperation between peoples.
The idea of establishing the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Memorial Hospital and Research Center came at the initiative of the Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan after the death of his mother, Shaukat Khanum, of cancer.
