Britain’s Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on Friday, but other members of the royal family were unable to attend due to a lockdown caused by the coronavirus.

Queen Elizabeth, 94, and Prince Philip, 99, were married on November 20, 1947, at Westminster Abbey in London, just two years after the end of World War II.

On November 20, on the occasion of their wedding anniversary, a picture was released by the Buckingham Palace, in which the Queen smiles with her husband and looks at the cards that her great-grandchildren, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, have sent them.

The photo was taken at Windsor Castle, Queen Elizabeth’s residence in west London, where the royal couple is staying during the lockdown.

Queen Elizabeth wore the same jewellery adorned with diamonds and jewels that she wore during the early days of her marriage and during the first part of her honeymoon when she was photographed in Broadlands, southern England.

The two first met in 1934 during Philip’s cousin’s marriage to Princess Marina of Greece, Elizabeth’s uncle, the Duke of Kent.
