Britain’s Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on Friday, but other members of the royal family were unable to attend due to a lockdown caused by the coronavirus.
Queen Elizabeth, 94, and Prince Philip, 99, were married on November 20, 1947, at Westminster Abbey in London, just two years after the end of World War II.
On November 20, on the occasion of their wedding anniversary, a picture was released by the Buckingham Palace, in which the Queen smiles with her husband and looks at the cards that her great-grandchildren, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, have sent them.

The photo was taken at Windsor Castle, Queen Elizabeth’s residence in west London, where the royal couple is staying during the lockdown.
Queen Elizabeth wore the same jewellery adorned with diamonds and jewels that she wore during the early days of her marriage and during the first part of her honeymoon when she was photographed in Broadlands, southern England.
The two first met in 1934 during Philip’s cousin’s marriage to Princess Marina of Greece, Elizabeth’s uncle, the Duke of Kent.
Philip first became drawn for his future wife when she was 13 and went to the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth with her parents. Philip was training as a cadet there.
Royal observers say Elizabeth and Philip’s life went through many ups and downs like a normal married couple, but they refrained from interfering in the married lives of three of their four children. What All three marriages ended in divorce. Most notable is the tragic end to the relationship between his eldest son, Prince Charles, and his late wife, Princess Diana.
On the occasion of her fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1997, Queen Elizabeth said of her husband, “He is very simple and he has always been with me and remained my strength all these years.”
