A man from Scotland used a jetski and traveled around four and a half hours to his girlfriend on the Isle.
In September, Dale McLaughlan, 28, from North Ayrshire, met his girlfriend while working on the Isle of Man as a roofer.
As per the new regulation owing to coronavirus non-residents cannot travel to the island without official permission. The guy operated the watercraft without having prior experience and made a four-and-a-half-hour journey. However, he told that he predicted to complete the trip in 40 minutes.
McLaughlan’s lawyer told the court that he was going through depression and anxiety. But due to traveling illegally to the island, he was placed behind the bars for four weeks.
Christopher Arrowsmith, deputy high bailiff said “deliberate and intentional attempt to circumnavigate” of McLaughlan posed a threat to himself and the inhabitants of the island.
McLaughlan stepped 15 miles (25km) to the capital, Douglas, after entering the Isle of Whithorn in the dawn. He arrived at the northern town of Ramsey at 1 pm
It is also said that the guy asked the whereabouts of the girlfriend from the police by providing them the address. However, he was caught on Sunday during the security check after attending two busy nightclubs.
