Saudi Arabia has decided to extend a ban on entry to the Kingdom by air, land, and sea for another week.
As per the details, the Ministry of Interior said in an official statement that the decision was a precautionary measure against the spread of the new variant of COVID-19, which had been detected in several countries.
The statement also mentioned that exceptional cases would be exempted from the entry ban, and non-Saudi citizens are allowed to leave the Kingdom.
It added that the ministry is assessing the current situation and suspension of travel could be further extended, if necessary.
It is pertinent to mention that a new variant of coronavirus has emerged in the United Kingdom, and has spread in several countries.
Jordan reported two cases of the new Covid-19 variant on Sunday. The virus was detected in a man and his wife who had come from Britain.
Lebanon also detected its first case on a flight arriving from London, it announced on Friday.
