Policemen shot dead in France

Three policemen have been shot dead and a fourth has been injured in an attack in France.

As per the details, French police have cordoned off the area and investigations are underway after the assault.

According to the international news agency, a 48-year-old suspect has shot the gendarmes. France’s interior minister Gérald Darminin said that the suspect was found dead. The assault has occurred near Saint-Just in the Puy-de-Dôme department.

“This tragedy touches us all and the whole country is mourning. I share the pain of their loved ones and their brothers in arms and assure them of my unwavering support,” French Prime Minister Jean Castex tweeted.

AFP reported that Police had been working to rescue a woman who escaped to the roof of a house. The woman has been rescued to safety and is currently being interrogated.

The international news source said that the suspect shot two gendarmes when they were trying to rescue the woman. One was killed and the other was wounded. The suspect then set fire to the house.

On the contrary, the suspect shot two policemen, who were approaching the house. Prosecutors said that the suspect was heavily armed.

Sources told AFP that Firefighters were only able to approach the two men after several minutes.

France’s interior ministry said that three police officers, aged 21, 37, and 45, were killed. Another one was wounded.
