A well-known cafe in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has offered free coffee to Coronavirus vaccine recipients.

According to Arab media reports, the cafe owner says the offer is aimed at highlighting the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine in society.

Many other restaurants in Dubai have made similar offers, with those taking the first dose of the vaccine being given a 10 per cent discount for dinner and those taking the second dose 20 per cent.

Note that the vaccine developed by the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinopharm for “Covid-19” was officially registered in the UAE on December 2020, according to an announcement by the UAE Ministry of Health.

This step has been taken at the request of the said Chinese company. The decision reflects the confidence of UAE health officials in the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.

The UAE Ministry of Health had reviewed the results of the third phase of the vaccine experiment by the Chinese company Sinoform. According to these results, the effectiveness of this vaccine against covid-19 is 86%.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Ministry of Health had decided in September this year that the vaccine would be provided under the Emergency Use Permit. The aim is to ensure the safety of front-line workers during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Note that the third phase of the vaccine trial was attended by 31,000 volunteers from 125 countries in the UAE.

Abu Dhabi has recently launched a volunteer program for Phase 3 clinical trials of the Russian human adenovirus-based Sputnik V vaccine under the #VaccineforVictory campaign.

500 volunteers from Abu Dhabi will be allowed to take part in Abu Dhabi. Interested ones can register for the coronavirus vaccine trials online at www.v4v.ae.

“Your participation in this Phase III Clinical study will make you a forerunner in the race to save not only the residents of UAE but also all of humanity. Your service to your country will forever be a part of history and will ensure administering a safely researched pandemic to the public,” says the registration form.

Interested ones will have to submit their health details, including the history of coronavirus and other diseases.

Volunteers will be given two doses of the vaccine, administered 20 days apart. They will be regularly monitored.

This is the second program being taken place in Abu Dhabi. The World’s first phase III trials of an inactivated vaccine were held in July in Abu Dhabi.

According to the international news agency, the trials were managed by G42 Healthcare in partnership with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, and Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha).

Organizers of the trial said in a statement: “We invite you to make history by being a part of the momentous ‘Vaccine for Victory (V4V)’ campaign, which is the UAE’s chapter of the global vaccination trial of the Sputnik V vaccine, developed by Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology & Microbiology, in partnership with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).”
