Israeli forces have shot dead a Palestinian man during a weekly protest in the West Bank.

According to the reports, eyewitnesses said that after Friday prayers, stones and clashes took place during the protests in the occupied Nablus, a city in the northern West Bank.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said the dead man was shot in the head and was taken to a nearby hospital in the Nablus, where he died.

On the other hand, the Israeli army said that the incident is being investigated.

According to the report, the Palestinian who was shot dead by Israeli soldiers was participating in the protest against the Israeli occupation in Beit Dajan village near Nablus on Saturday.

During the protests, protesters hurled stones at Israeli soldiers, while two nearby Israeli soldiers opened fire, killing one civilian and transporting him to a hospital.

According to media reports, the deceased Palestinian 45-year-old Sheikh Atif was the muezzin of the local Musa Bin Nasir Mosque.

Last week, three fishermen were killed when an Israeli drone loaded with explosives crashed into the waters in the Gaza Strip.

Gaza’s interior ministry said three fishermen had been killed off the coast earlier this week and a drone loaded with explosives had fallen into their nets.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights said the fishermen were killed in an accident involving their boat, while the Israeli military said the incident took place while Palestinian fighters were practising rocket fire at sea.

Gaza Interior Ministry spokesman Iyad al-Bozoum said the fishing boat had not been hit by a Palestinian rocket and had found pieces of an Israeli quadcopter with explosives in its net.

He said the blast took place while fishermen were lifting their nets, killing three people.

It should be noted that Hamas has been in power in Gaza since 2007 and since then the maritime borders between Israel and Egypt have been closed for 2 million Palestinians and both countries have been expressing security concerns.

The Israeli army also shot and killed a Palestinian on January 31, while the Israeli army said in a statement that an “assailant armed with three wooden knives” attacked troops at a junction on the West Bank south of Jerusalem. Tried to attack, but did not say how many soldiers were injured.

One week ago, an Israeli soldier shot and killed a 17-year-old Palestinian in the North West Bank for allegedly attacking soldiers with a knife.

Palestinian and Israeli rights groups have accused Israel of sometimes using excessive force and killing suspected assailants who could have been arrested.
