Restrictions on the movement of Hurriyat Chairman have been lifted after around 20 months in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the details, Mirwaiz was forced to face house detention on August 4, 2019. After a day, the Indian government had imposed a military siege in Kashmir.
Mirwaiz is likely to deliver the Friday sermon at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar today. He will also join the Ulema Council meeting at Mirwaiz Manzil, Rajouri Kadal in Srinagar.
According to Kashmir media, Jammu and Kashmir Youth Social Forum leader Tauseef Ahmad welcomed Mirwaiz and Javed Munshi on their release. He also urged India to release all Kashmiri politician prisoners. Moreover, he visited the residence of Javed Munshi at Nisbar Nishat in Srinagar.
He said that Mirwaiz was released from his house and leader Javed Munshi from jail after two years.
Apart from that, the acting Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP), Mehmood Ahmad Saghar also welcomed the release of the Hurriyat leader. He urged India to release Shabbir Ahmad Shah and all the other illegally detained politicians.
US State Department spokesperson Zed Tarar earlier said that President Joe Biden wants an immediate solution to the Kashmir issue.
He said in an interview that President Joe Biden has made it clear that human rights are a fundamental issue for the United States.
He also said that the US understands that Kashmir is a human rights issue. He said that the US wants that mobile service and 4G should be restored in Kashmir immediately.
