Suicide cases among Indian troops are rising in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. An Indian soldier committed suicide in Srinagar on Friday (today).

According to Kashmir media, the soldier identified as Anup Kumar was found hanging at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar.

Three Indian soldiers have claimed their lives in the past two days in IIOJK. Lieutenant Colonel Sudeep Bhagat and a soldier claimed their lives in Srinagar and Rajouri on Thursday.

The toll is rising, as the number of deaths among Indian troops and police personnel in IIOJK has reached 493 since 2007.

The Chairman of the International Forum for Justice Human Rights Jammu and Kashmir Mohammad Ahsan Untoo and the Jammu and Kashmir Youth Social and Justice League mentioned in their statements that thousands of people were arrested by the Indian authorities to prevent them from raising voice against New Delhi’s illegal move. Hundreds of prisoners, who were declared innocents after 20 years, have become the victims of injustice.

Apart from that, the US government-funded think-tank, Freedom House, mentioned in its 2021 report that India’s status as a free country has changed to ‘partly free’ because the Narendra Modi government is tragically driving the country towards authoritarianism. The report also explained that political rights and civil liberties in India have deteriorated since Modi became Prime Minister in 2014. It said that BJP’s policies against Muslims and other minority communities have led to a deterioration of political and civil liberties in India.
