Austrian, US officials Launch Investigation Into Mysterious Illness Report

Austria and the United States have said they are investigating reports of ‘Havana syndrome’-like mystery illness among US diplomats and other officials in Vienna.

According to the report, US senators had said in May that reports of brain damage had been received in the United States, after which the government was investigating the mysterious patient.

Details of the disease are still needed, but it has led to illness and brain damage among US diplomats and intelligence officials in Cuba, China, Russia and other countries.

It is suspected that Moscow is behind the “disease” which needs to be clarified, while scientists have suggested that these attacks arise from a plus microwave.

The first outbreak was reported in Cuba in 2016 and the second in China, but scientists and doctors discussed the causes and effects without “uniform results”.

According to a New York report, about two dozen US intelligence officers, diplomats and other government officials in Vienna have been suffering from the Havana syndrome since President Biden took office.

The Austrian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it was “conducting a joint investigation with US authorities as a host state.”

“We have taken these reports very seriously. The safety of the diplomats and their families sent to Austria is our top priority,” he said.

A State Department spokesman said that wherever he received reports of illness, a thorough investigation was underway.

The official added, “Any staff member who reported the mysterious illness has received immediate and appropriate attention and care.”

Officials said that among other measures, the United States has already formed a team of medical experts who can address these issues globally and is working to “provide better protection against these incidents in the future.”
