An upscale neighborhood of Edinburgh has been targeted by anti-climate change protesters who deflated the tyres of many SUVs.

A gang known as The Tyre Extinguishers has been targeting motorists in capital’s New Town neighborhood.

Activists have dubbed them “polluting death vehicles” and contend that city dwellers who have access to public transportation do not require them.

Targeted at least a hundred automobiles. According to police, investigations were still underway.

To spread the message that “gas guzzlers kill” and “SUVs and 4x4s are a calamity for our climate,” the activists placed flyers on the windows of passing cars.

More than six times as many SUVs are on the road now as there were in 2010. Cars that are larger and heavier use more gasoline.

A study released in April 2021 indicated that three-fourths of all SUVs registered to UK residents reside in urban areas.

More carbon dioxide emissions have been produced by SUVs than by all of aircraft in recent years, according to a report by the Tyre Extinguishers.

There are so many SUVs in New Town, the organisation said, that they ran out of leaflets. You can count on us to be back.

While Glasgow held the COP26 climate summit in November, a group called Tyred of SUVs performed a similar protest.
