On Monday, a car bomb exploded in Melitopol, a Russian-controlled Ukrainian city, injuring numerous persons.
Russia stated that “Ukrainian saboteurs” were responsible, but gave no proof to back up this assertion.
“On 30 May, an explosion reportedly took place in the center of Melitopol near a residential building at the time of distribution of humanitarian aid, which was organized by Ukrainian saboteurs,” the Russian investigative committee stated.
Three people were hurt as a result of the explosion, according to preliminary reports.
The explosion was also reported by Melitopol’s mayor, Ivan Fedorov, who said it happened near a building belonging to the head of Russia’s appointed administration.
He speculated that the blast was the result of local resistance as residents of the city continued to demonstrate against the occupation.
