The sunken Meotyda ship has thwarted Russian occupiers’ efforts to restore Mariupol’s port. According to source, this was disclosed on Telegram by Petro Andriushchenko, the Mariupol mayor’s adviser.

“Because there is no other means to recover the stolen metal and provide basic logistics for the Russian military, the invaders have begun their attempts to reopen the port. He also shared a video from the port, which shows the sunken ship’s above-deck section with the Ukrainian flag fluttering above the water’s surface.

As previously documented, Russia’s aggressiveness has resulted in one of the world’s worst humanitarian disasters in Mariupol.

The city is without electricity, water, or gas. According to Mariupol’s mayor, 20,000 citizens have been killed in the city since the Russian assault began. Around 100,000 civilians are still trapped in Mariupol.

To project an appearance of “the city returning to normal,” the Russian invaders appointed collaborator Kostiantyn Ivashchenko as Mariupol’s “mayor.”
