“We will be here for you in response and recovery for as long as it takes,” Biden said, adding that he observed a “amazing” portion of the territory’s perimeter burn in the trip to Santa Fe.

Since two planned fires by the US Forest Service (USFS) ran out of control in April, the fire has destroyed hundreds of homes in the mountains northeast of Santa Fe, driven by drought and wind. find out more

Before landing and greeting the governor and other political officials who have called for additional financial support from the federal government, Air Force One banked and circled around fire damage in New Mexico, allowing Biden to observe scorched forest and clouds of smoke from the sky.
