
Ukrainian forces ‘holding on’ in key Donbas battles (Credits:file)
- NATO’s Deputy Secretary-General Mircea Joane has confirmed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been invited to the alliance’s meeting in Madrid.
- The conference will be held on June 28 and 29, with Pacific partners Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea attending.
KYIV: NATO’s Deputy Secretary-General, Mircea Joane, has confirmed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been invited to the alliance’s meeting in Madrid.
As per Kyiv Independent, the conference will be held in Madrid, Spain on June 28 and 29.
Joane stated in an official statement that the conference would be attended for the first time by NATO Pacific partners Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea.
According to local media, Zelensky’s participation in the summit was announced during a discussion arranged by Politico.
Earlier in the day, Europa Press reported that Spain planned to send Zelensky an official invitation to the summit in Madrid on June 29 and 30.
Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that he does not expect positive outcomes for Ukraine during the NATO conference.

The conference will begin with a working dinner, which will be headed by NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and will include Finland, Georgia, Sweden, Ukraine, and the European Union.
