During a UN Security Council meeting in New York, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has called on member states to collectively convey a strong message aimed at preventing any additional states or groups from escalating the Israel-Gaza conflict on another front.

“Don’t throw fuel on the fire,” he said.

Blinken warned Iran that the US would respond ‘decisively’ to any attack. “Make no mistake, we will defend our people, we will defend our security swiftly and decisively.”

Antony Blinken emphasized the importance of contemplating humanitarian pauses in Gaza, with the aim of facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid into the region.
