Disruptive Drunk Detained: Cabin Crew Stand Firm on Indian Flight
Indigo Airlines reported on Monday that a passenger on flight 6E 556 from Jaipur to Bengaluru was detained by airport law enforcement for misconduct towards the crew.
The individual, who was intoxicated, persisted in disruptive behavior despite multiple warnings. While the airline did not reveal the individual’s identity, it confirmed transferring the passenger to authorities, with additional legal measures to follow.
The airline issued a statement: “A passenger on flight 6E 556 from Jaipur to Bengaluru was intoxicated and misbehaved with the crew despite multiple warnings. The passenger was handed over to the local law enforcement authorities on arrival for further legal action. We regret the inconvenience caused to the other passengers.”
Last month, Delhi police filed a case against a man accused of causing a disturbance and verbally abusing the flight crew on an Air India flight from New York to Delhi, according to officials.
Another case was registered against a passenger on an Air India flight who disrupted the journey and used offensive language towards female cabin crew, officials stated.
The incident, reported at Delhi’s IGI Airport Police station on October 1, was prompted by a complaint from the victim cabin crew member.
In her account, she detailed working in the Economy class cabin when a passenger identified as Abhinav Sharma from Jalandhar, Punjab, on Air India Flight AI 102, began making inappropriate comments and verbally assaulting fellow passengers.
Despite initial warnings, the accused passenger escalated his disruptive behavior, running around and verbally abusing everyone.
The cabin supervisor issued oral and written warnings, but eventually, the crew had to physically restrain him due to racist comments and disrespectful behavior towards the country.
