A gunman opened fire at a Walmart in Ohio on Monday night, injuring four individuals before ultimately taking his own life, as confirmed by the local police.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. at the Beavercreek Walmart, situated in the Dayton metropolitan area, a town with a population of approximately 50,000.
“The conditions of the victims right now is unknown” but all were taken to hospitals for treatment, police Capt. Scott Molnar said at a news conference. The police reported that the assailant, who had apparently shot himself, succumbed to injuries and passed away.
Details such as the gunman’s identity, motive for the attack, and other specifics have not been disclosed at this time.Earlier, law enforcement stated via social media that the Walmart store had been evacuated, secured, and there was no ongoing threat.
“We’re heartbroken by what’s happened at our Beavercreek, Ohio store. This remains a developing situation, and we’re working closely with investigators on the scene,” Walmart said in a statement.
