The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza has reported that the death toll in Gaza has now risen to 10,022, with a surge in casualties following intense Israeli airstrikes, targeting hundreds of locations, including a Hamas military compound.

The director of Gaza City’s largest hospital informed the BBC that around 200 people were killed in a single night.

A coalition of UN humanitarian agencies and charities has strongly condemned the “horrific killings” of civilians in Gaza, with a significant number of children among the victims.

Some political figures, including US President Joe Biden, have raised questions about the accuracy of the Gaza health ministry’s figures.

In response to these concerns, the World Health Organization has expressed confidence in the reliability of the reported numbers.

It’s important to note that the health ministry in Gaza, like other government agencies, is under the control of Hamas, which is designated as a terrorist organization in the UK, US, and EU.

The conflict between Israel and Gaza began after a series of events, including Hamas’ killing of over 1,400 people in Israel and the kidnapping of more than 200 others on October 7.

The Israeli military’s operation aims to completely dismantle Hamas.
