Terrorism has been ruled out in the Rainbow Bridge car blast that resulted in two fatalities on the route connecting New York state and Ontario at Niagara Falls.

The incident prompted a security alert and the closure of four US-Canadian border crossings. Authorities later clarified that there was no evidence of terrorism, leaving the circumstances of the crash unclear.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul stated, “At this time, there is no indication of a terrorist attack.” The FBI concluded its investigation, finding no explosive materials or terrorism connection.

The Rainbow Bridge remained closed for further assessment.
