Saudi Arabia Welcomes UN Aid Resolution for Gaza, Calls for End to Israeli “Violations”
According to the Saudi Press Agency, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry announced on Saturday that it was pleased that UN Security Council Resolution 2720 had been adopted.
In order to provide the conditions for a long-lasting truce in Gaza, the resolution called for quick, broad, safe, and unrestricted humanitarian relief delivery.
The Ministry expressed optimism that the resolution would be a positive step toward bringing an end to military activities completely and safeguarding civilians in Gaza during Israel’s conflict with Hamas in the territory, which began on October 7.
In defiance of international law and international humanitarian law, the Ministry restated Saudi Arabia’s demand that the international community “take responsibility and immediately put an end to the systematic violations perpetrated by the Israeli occupation authorities against unarmed civilians, including killing and forced displacement.”
As Israel continued its attack and ordered tens of thousands more Palestinians to flee their homes, health officials in Gaza said on Saturday that over 20,000 Palestinians have died.
