Prepare for some wet weather and keep your umbrellas handy, as forecasters predict heavy rainfall in the UAE in the coming days. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather advisory spanning from Wednesday, February 28, to Friday, March 1.

Partly cloudy to cloudy weather is expected in scattered areas of the country on Wednesday and Thursday. There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall in general, with heavy rainfall expected at times in certain areas, particularly in the northern, eastern, and southern regions. These areas comprise Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman, and Al Ain.

Furthermore, anticipate fresh to strong North-westerly winds in the Western regions from noon on Thursday. Temperatures will gradually decrease on Thursday, with a reduction in cloud cover expected by Thursday night.

The report states that a surface low-pressure system from the Southwest will influence the country, along with an extension of an upper-air low-pressure system. These systems will be accompanied by a western jet stream, causing varying amounts of cloud cover to move intermittently from the West.

On Friday, certain Eastern areas will experience the presence of clouds, with the potential for convective activity and rainfall during the daytime.

Forecasters anticipate light southeasterly winds initially, transitioning to north-westerly by noon on Thursday. Winds are expected to be moderate to fresh, occasionally gaining strength, particularly over the sea and in conjunction with cloud cover, potentially causing blowing dust and sand.

Expect moderate sea conditions, with the possibility of becoming rough to very rough at times on Thursday in the Arabian Gulf. Forecasters anticipate sea conditions in the Oman Sea to start as slight to moderate, becoming rough by Thursday night.
