Here’s how to convert visit visa into work visa in Bahrain
Bahrain’s visa policy undergoes changes, with Zawya reporting that visitor visa holders can no longer switch to work permits.
However, those sponsored by an entity retain the option to shift to work or dependent visas. The transfer fee now stands at BD250, a hike from the previous BD60 if sponsors remain unchanged.
Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, the Under-Secretary of Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs (NPRA), announced the move to curb unemployment and bolster support for Bahraini nationals.
These actions, conducted in tandem with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), comply with government directives to fortify visa transfer rules.
The initiative aims to prioritize Bahraini nationals for job opportunities in accordance with the National Labour Market Strategy. Al Khalifa stressed the need to tackle misuse of visit visas, indicating stricter enforcement measures.
Reportedly, visa conversions numbered 13,078 in 2019, 7,942 in 2020, 9,424 in 2021, 46,204 in 2022, and 8,598 until June of the preceding year. Al Khalifa highlighted intensified efforts to deter entry regulation violations, especially attempts to convert tourist visas to work permits.
Furthermore, airlines received instructions to deny boarding to travelers lacking a return ticket, residence permit, or adequate funds for Bahrain entry.
