A fire on a Ferris wheel at a music festival near Leipzig in eastern Germany injured at least 23 people, according to news agencies. Two gondolas caught fire during the incident.

Police reported that the fire began in one gondola and then spread to a second gondola on Saturday night. Four people sustained burn injuries, and one person was injured from a fall. Additionally, others, including first responders and at least four police officers, are being examined in the hospital for possible smoke inhalation, according to a news source.

The accident occurred at the Highfield Festival at Stoermthaler Lake near Leipzig. Police are investigating the cause of the fire.

On Sunday morning, police could not provide concrete information about the condition of the injured or determine the exact number of casualties. The Ferris wheel operator told the private news agency that no passengers were in the gondola where the fire started.
