U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has issued a memo to soldiers following Donald Trump’s win in the U.S. elections 2024.
According to the memo released by Austin, the Pentagon is prepared to implement all legal orders from the Trump administration, and it remains committed to ensuring an orderly transition of power to the new administration.
The memo also stated that the U.S. military is ready to carry out the policy choices of the incoming Commander-in-Chief. The military is prepared to comply with all legal orders from the civilian chain of command.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin further emphasized that the military will remain apolitical, stating that the U.S. armed forces are committed to protecting democracy with professionalism.
He reaffirmed that the military will continue to defend the country, the Constitution, and the rights of its citizens.
Earlier, President-elect Donald J. Trump announced Thursday that Susie Wiles, a veteran Florida strategist who has managed his political operation for nearly four years, will be his White House chief of staff in the incoming administration.
This marks Trump’s first significant appointment following his election victory and comes as advisers push him to begin finalizing his top government picks.
Wiles, who is well-known within Trump’s inner circle, will make history as the first woman to hold the chief of staff position. Mr. Trump praised her abilities in a statement, saying, “Susie is tough, smart, innovative and is universally admired and respected,” adding, “I have no doubt that she will make our country proud.”
