Another plane crash strikes US, 6 dead in Philadelphia
A tragic plane crash involving a Learjet 55 occurred in Northeast Philadelphia, resulting in multiple fatalities and widespread destruction.
The medical evacuation air ambulance, which had just taken off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, crashed shortly after departure, killing all six people on board. The victims included four crew members, a pediatric medical patient, and the patient’s escort.
The plane was headed to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri when it crashed and burst into flames, causing nearby homes to catch fire. Local authorities confirmed that at least one house and several vehicles were consumed by the flames, with heavy rain reducing visibility at the time of the incident.
Philadelphia’s emergency management office responded quickly, labeling the crash as a “major incident” and confirming road closures in the area. The crash site, located less than five kilometers from the airport, was described as chaotic, with emergency responders working to manage the aftermath.
Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy confirmed the six fatalities and stated that both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) would jointly investigate the cause of the crash.
The company operating the plane, Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, expressed grief over the loss and confirmed they could not confirm any survivors. Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker assured the public that authorities were assessing the situation but could not provide specific details on the number of casualties.
This incident followed closely after a mid-air collision between a US Army Black Hawk helicopter and a passenger plane near Washington D.C., which resulted in the deaths of 67 people.
In a statement on Truth Social, President Donald Trump offered condolences, calling the crash in Philadelphia “so sad” and praising the work of first responders, stating, “Our people are totally engaged. First responders are already being given credit for doing a great job.”
