Israel has launched a new ground offensive in central and southern Gaza, securing control of a key corridor just a day after heavy airstrikes killed over 400 people and effectively ended a two-month ceasefire with Hamas.

On Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that it had initiated “targeted ground activities” aimed at expanding a security zone and creating a partial buffer between northern and southern Gaza. The military reported that it had regained control over the central section of the Netzarim Corridor, a critical route within the blockaded territory.

According to the Times of Israel, troops from the 252nd Division moved into the corridor, seizing approximately half of it and reaching the Salah a-Din road. Meanwhile, Israel deployed its elite Golani Brigade to the southern border, signaling the possibility of further incursions.
