Fresno, California, witnessed a major pro-Khalistan car rally on March 1, 2025, organized by the Sikh for Justice (SFJ) group. The rally, known as the “Kissan Hul Khalistan Car Rally,” saw the participation of over 500 vehicles, including cars and trucks, decorated with Khalistan flags and banners.

Participants in the rally raised slogans in support of Khalistan, an independent Sikh state. One of the key highlights of the event was an effigy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi depicted in shackles, symbolizing opposition to his policies. The rally was also used as a platform to promote the upcoming Khalistan Referendum vote scheduled for March 23 in Los Angeles.

Narinder Singh Surrey, a prominent Khalistan supporter, emphasized that such events were possible in the U.S. due to freedom of speech and expression. SFJ and other pro-Khalistan groups have been advocating for a separate Sikh state and have organized multiple referendums in different countries to garner international support.

The car rally has sparked controversy, with critics arguing that such demonstrations promote separatist sentiments and could impact diplomatic relations between India and the U.S. Meanwhile, pro-Khalistan activists maintain that their movement is peaceful and aims to achieve a democratic resolution through referendums.
