UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak echoed a well-known statement in response to a reporter’s question about whether surveillance balloons posed a similar threat in the UK.

World leaders and their citizens are speculating about the possibility that the unidentified flying objects that the US shot down over the weekend are being watched from the skies.

In order to protect the nation from the threat posed by spy balloons, he declared that the government would do “whatever it takes.”

He said he couldn’t comment on national security matters or reveal if there were any balloons in UK airspace, but assured the public of the country’s “quick reaction alert force which involves Typhoon planes, which are kept on 24/7 readiness to police our airspace, which is incredibly important”.
