Prime Minister Imran Khan directed National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lt. Gen. Muhammad Afzal to visit Karachi.

In his Tweet, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the chairman NDMA has been directed to go to Karachi immediately and start the clean up in the aftermath of the rain.

“I have asked the Pak army to also help in cleaning up the city,” the prime minister added.

Earlier, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad and discussed the political situation in the country.

The Sindh Governor apprised the Prime Minister of the situation caused by the recent rains in Karachi.

According to the statement, the Prime Minister directed the NDMA to submit a detailed report on storm drains in Karachi.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister said that the federal government will not leave the people of Karachi alone in this difficult situation, the federal government will take all possible steps to solve the problems facing the people of Karachi.

Note that in the recent monsoon rains, the drains of Karachi had overflowed and water had entered the adjoining settlements along the drains.

Yesterday, the Prime Minister said that the problems could not be solved until the autonomy of the elected local body representatives of Karachi.

The Prime Minister said that local body representatives must be made financially, politically and administratively independent, adding that the federal government was in favour of the implementation of Article 140A.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has requested the Attorney General for an early hearing of the petition filed in the Supreme Court.

The Prime Minister directed the Attorney General to approach the Supreme Court. The Attorney General will seek an early hearing in the Supreme Court under Article 140A.
