Pakistan’s power hitter and finisher Asif Ali has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month Award along with Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib-al-Hasan and Namibia’s prolific batter David Weise for October.
Asif played a key role in the victories against New Zealand and Afghanistan in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.
He struck 27 runs off 12 balls against New Zealand in the final overs. Meanwhile, against Afghanistan, he scored 25 runs off just 7 deliveries, where he hit four sixes in the 19th over to seal the victory.
Asif played three T20 matches last month and scored a total of 52 runs with a strike rate of 273.68.
Shakib-al-Hasan has been nominated for the second time in his career. He has played six T20Is as a part of the T20 World Cup where he scored 131 runs at a strike rate of 109.16. He also took 11 wickets with an economy rate of 5.59.
David Weise, a senior all-rounder from Namibia, has enjoyed a fantastic ICC Men’s T20 World Cup thus far. He has played eight T20Is, scoring 162 runs with a strike rate of 132.78 and taking seven wickets at an economy rate of 7.23.
