On Independence Day, a kilometer long and 35 feet wide green flag was erected.

Shakir Afridi, a social worker of Landi Kotal in the tribal district of Khyber, created the flag in Lahore in a month.

It is one lakh 24 thousand square feet and weighs 23 kgs.

Thousands of volunteers held the flag this morning and marched 12 km long from Landi Kotal Bazar to Torkham border.

According to Shakir Afridi, it will be the world’s largest flag aimed at patriotism.

Independence Day in the Federal capital Islamabad started with 31 artillery and 21, 21 artillery in the provincial capitals.

The doodle which is green in color features a picture of the historic Khyber Pass with Pakistan’s flag flying high on its top to mark August 14.
