Cases of dengue fever are on the rise across the country, with the most number of cases reported from Karachi.

According to details, 66 dengue virus cases have been reported in Karachi, whereas, 3 have been diagnosed with dengue fever in different districts of Sindh.

Dengue cases have spiked in different cities of Punjab, including Faisalabad. Two patients, who were diagnosed with dengue in Rawalpindi, have lost their lives.

According to details, The district health department confirmed that 1700 patients have been diagnosed with mosquito-borne disease dengue in Punjab last year, according to a report submitted to the Punjab government.

Sources said that the district administration of Rawalpindi forwarded a detailed report to the Punjab government over the outspread of fever among the citizens.

According to the report, overall 1,499 persons are confirmed with the infection of virus so far, whereas, 86 cases were reported from Rawalpindi, 70 from Islamabad, 2 in Lahore.

The report signalled spread of the mosquito-borne disease as 548 cases were reported in last week and 84 people confirmed with the virus during the last 24 hours in Rawalpindi district.

At least three people were confirmed with dengue fever during the last seven day in Attock district and 2 in Jhelum and one in Chakwal as per the statistics of the report.

The district magistrate warned that any violation of the section would entail legal action.

The government has failed to curb the mosquito-borne disease in the country.
