Lasith Malinga breaks Boom Boom Afridi’s T-20 record

The right-arm fast-bowler Malinga, went past former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi in taking most wickets in the international cricket.

According to details, Malinga claimed the 99th wicket of his career during the first T20I against New Zealand in Colombo by dismissing Colin de Grandhomme in the 14th over of the innings.

Afridi, a leg-spinner who also captained Pakistan, played 99 T20 matches.

Malinga was retained as the captain of the Sri Lankan side for the three-match T20I series against the Kiwis.

Malinga started off his career with a T-20 match against England in 2006.

Malinga’s slinging arm bowling action has made him stand out in the cricket world.

He has represented Sri Lankan cricket in 30 test matches, taking wickets of 101 players. However, he played 226 ODIs and hunted 226 players with his bowling.

On the other hand, The Sri Lanka cricket team will arrive in Karachi on 25 September where it will play three ODIs on 27 and 29 September and 2 October.

Lahore will host three T20Is on 5, 7 and 9 October after which the visitors will fly home on 10 October.

PCB Chairman Mr. Ehsan Mani said: “The PCB is pleased with the outcome of its discussions with Sri Lanka Cricket, which has supported Pakistan in its efforts and endeavors for the complete revival of international cricket.

The tour for limited overs matches will also provide Sri Lanka with an even better understanding of the ground situation before discussing schedule of the Tests.

The upcoming matches will end the long await of the Pakistan cricket fans and supporters to watch modern day stars from both sides live in action.

This is something that will contribute immensely to our revamped domestic cricket structure.

“The hosting of the ICC World XI, a T20I against Sri Lanka, three-T20I series men’s and women’s series against the West Indies and eight HBL PSL 2019 matches within the past couple of years is a testament to Pakistan’s claim that it is a safe and secure country to play cricket.”
