China’s strong reaction on IOJ&K bifurcation

China gave a strong reaction on Jammu & Kashmir bifurcation in which India split occupied state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang said while giving media briefing that India’s big move to bifurcate Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories is “unlawful and void” and it affects Beijing’s sovereignty.

He further said China’s position on Kashmir issue is clear that Kashmir should be resolved peacefully according to UN resolutions.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that India had unilaterally challenged China’s sovereignty by making changes to the administrative division.

He also strongly condemned the India’s move and said China’s regional map cannot be changed by unconstitutional measures because it also includes some parts of China in the proposed areas.

Yesterday, India has officially split occupied state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories.

The mountainous region of Ladakh, previously a part of the state, has been separated and turned into another standalone territory from October 31, 2019.

Modi-led government has announced to repeal the special status of occupied Kashmir and divide it into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and, Ladakh, which will directly be governed by Delhi.

Indian Administrative Service Officers, Girish Chandra Murmu and Radha Krishna Mathur, have been appointed the new Lieutenant Governors for the UTs of J&K and Ladakh respectively.

While 89th day of military siege continue in occupied Kashmir, amid unprecedented Indian military lockdown, normal life in the Kashmir Valley and Muslim majority areas of Jammu region.

People continue to observe complete shutdown as a mark of silent protest against the Indian occupation and revocation of the territory’s special status.
