The kidnapping of 20-year-old young student Dua Mangi is cloaked in mystery as investigation team of police has miserably failed to find the girl and the concerned officials are still unaware about the objective of kidnapping and suspects involved in this heinous act.

In the meantime investigation team has also decided to take assistance from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in the case.

Unidentified men kidnapped a young girl, Dua Mangi, and shot her friend, Haris Fatah, in Karachi’s D.H.A Bukhari Commercial area on Saturday.

The incident took place at around 8pm on a secluded road near an open-air Dhaba in Bukhari Commercial area. The kidnapped girl, Dua Mangi, was taking a walk with her friend, Haris when 4 to 5 armed men forced the girl get in their vehicle. When her friend Haris showed resistance, they shot him and sped off with Dua.

Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah and Sindh Inspector General of Police Dr. Kaleem Aman took notice of the incident and ordered instant inquiry into the alleged kidnapping.

Investigation officers have been asked to use all means to trace the culprits and recover the girl safely. They have also ensured the families of victims of their full support and cooperation.

Soon after the kidnapping incident, various people posted on social media, informing the public and the concerned authorities of the incident. An FIR has already been registered at Clifton’s Darakshan Police Station against unidentified men on behalf of the injured man’s father, Abdul Fatah.

The FIR stated that Haris, the friend of the kidnapped girl, told their family that he was going out to with his friends.

The boy was shot multiple times and rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, whereas the girl was whisked away by armed kidnappers.

Haris, who was shot multiple times wounded in the incident, was initially taken to the National Medical Center but later rushed to the Aga Khan University Hospital.

The police have recorded statements of the families and friends for any possible leads to the kidnappers. Police have also recorded the statements of waiters and staff at the Chai Dhabas in the locality.

According to the police’s initial investigation, the perpetrators took off with Dua Mangi in a grey Honda Civic. Police is also investigating cell phone data of both victims and geo-fencing of the site will also be carried out.

Police have eight different CCTV footages of the incident and have obtained statement of a rickshaw driver, who is claimed to have seen the incident. A CCTV camera footage acquired by BOL shows the culprits getting out of a car and shooting at Haris whilst abducting his friend Dua.

The CCTV footage depicts Dua and Haris were taking a walk before the incident. In the other footage, the kidnappers are seen taking Dua with them.

Police have decided to broaden the scope of investigation, officials will also interrogate Dua’s friends, her family members and ex-fiancé namely Mazhar.

A similar incident took place in the DHA where a girl was abducted in same manner and later released after her family paid a handsome ransom to the kidnappers
