Islamabad: Pakistan’s foreign office expressed “deep concern” over the emerging situation in the Middle East on Friday, after US strikes in Iraq.

Pakistan Foreign Office said in a twitter statement, “Pakistan has viewed with deep concern in the recent developments in the Middle East, which seriously threaten peace and stability in the region.”

“Respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity are the fundamental principles of the UN Charter, which should be adhered to. It is also important to avoid unilateral actions and use of force,” a press release issued by the Foreign Office said.

In another tweet spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) also said, “It is also important to avoid unilateral actions and use of force. All parties are urged to exercise maximum restraint, engage constructively to de-escalate the situation, and resolve issues through diplomatic means, in accordance with UN Charter and international law.”

Iranian Quds force leader killed by US forces

The head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ elite Quds Force,  General Qasem Soleimani has been assassinated by the US forces in Iraq. He was killed as per the instruction of the president, Pentagon explains.

Earlier, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on the demise of the commander of the IRGC’s Quds Forces Major General Qasem Soleimani that a severe revenge awaits the criminals who have stained their hands with Major General Qasem Soleimani & the other martyrs’ blood.

In a series of Tweets Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stated that all the enemies should know that the path of jihad and resistance continues with increased motivation and certain victory awaits the mujahideen on this blessed path.

The Iranian Supreme leader added that the absence of Major General Qasem Soleimani is bitter, but the continuation of the resistance and its final victory will be bitterer for the murderers and criminals.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei also paid condolences to the family of Major-General Soleimani and announced 3 days of mourning.
