After a brief pause following the first case, COVID-19 cases witnessed a sharp surge as more pilgrims returning from Iran tested positive.

About 25,000 people have died of coronavirus pandemic  so far globally. 15,500 of these are from Europe only since December 2019. More than 552,000 coronavirus cases have been reported in 199 countries of which at least 268,191 are in Europe alone, the worst-hit continent.

Italy with 8,165 deaths is leading the death toll followed by Spain with 4,089 deaths, China with 3,287 deaths, Iran 2,234 deaths and France with 1,696 fatalities,

In Pakistan 1408 cases have been confirmed with 12 deaths so far

The Punjab government has confirmed 23 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the provincial tally to 448 and overtook Sindh that has reported 457 cases so far.
